Quercus robur - Fastigiata 'Cypress oak' is a tough, columnar form of English Oak suitable for screening or avenue purposes, parks or as a street tree in narrow spaces.

Height: 8 -12 metres. (Tends to reach its minimum height in an urban environment.)

Width: 4 metres.

Growth rate: Slow to moderate.

Form: Quercus robur - Fastigiata 'Cypress oak' is narrowly conical to columnar with dense, upright branching.

Foliage: Dark green to bluish-green with a distinctive auriculate (ear-like projection) near the narrow base.
Autumn colour: Greenish-yellow to yellowish-brown in autumn.

In warmer climates (Melbourne) and protected areas it will hold onto its leaves throughout winter, making it semi deciduous.

Fruit: Acorns.

Tolerances: Quercus robur - Fastigiata 'Cypress oak' is very tolerant of a wide range of site conditions, but prefers a slightly acid to alkaline, well drained soil and a position in full sun. Quercus robur - Fastigiata 'Cypress oak' even tolerates moderate drought and air pollution.
