Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak

Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak is a majestic tree for larger parks, gardens, golf courses and for street planting.  Autumn colour can be spectacular.  Great as a speciemn or in an avenue or driveway.  A nice shade tree.

Height: 8 -12 metres. (Tends to reach its minimum height in an urban environment.)

Width: 8 metres.

Growth rate: Moderate.

Form: Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak is open and broadly rounded. Pyramidal with pendulous lower branches when young. Eventually becoming a stunning feature tree.

Foliage: Lustrous, dark green leaves with seven to nine deeply divided, slender lobes.  In warmer climates the leaves my persist on the tree into winter.

Autumn colour: the leaves turn scarlet in autumn, brilliantly so in cooler areas.

Fruit: Acorns

Tolerances: Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak can tolerate a wide range of conditions: Air pollution, moderately wet soils, clay and quite dry, sandy areas but prefers a deep, fertile, acid soil that is moist. 

Landscape use:  Quercus coccinea - Scarlet Oak will make great specimen tree, avenue and driveway where space permits

Transport Interstate: For Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide, we use a third party plant transport company. Interstate transport is quoted per consignment, based on volume & space.

Transport to these locations will be a minimum of $250.
