Aesculus hippocastanum - Horse Chestnut Tree

Aesculus hippocastanum - Horse Chestnut Tree is a splendid shade tree with distinctive, large, compound leaves and and stunning large flowers.  This tree makes a lovely speciment tree or as an avenue.  Horse Chestnut is suitable for moist areas and is well worth growing in large gardens, parks, gardens and golf courses.

Height: 8 metres.

Width: 8 metres.

Growth rate: Moderate to fast.

Form: Aesculus hippocastanum - Horse Chestnut Tree is upright when young, becoming rounded with age. Densely branched. 

Foliage: Palmately compound, with five to seven doubly serrate leaflets and dark green in summer.

Autumn colour: Leaves turn a lovely yellow in autumn.

Flowers: White flowers with yellow to red speckles, late spring.

Tolerances:  Tolerates a wide range of tolerances, though it prefers to be not too dry.

Landscape use: Aesculus hippocastanum - Horse Chestnut Tree is a good shade tree, suitable in medium to large gardens and parks

Transport Interstate: For Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide, we use a third party plant transport company. Interstate transport is quoted per consignment, based on volume & space.

Transport to these locations will be a minimum of $250.
